Today as I release my series “Summer Table”, I am elated to be able to share these pieces with you. I have been primarily working on commissions these past couple of years while also acting and modeling. When the pandemic hit, things in the entertainment industry came to a screeching halt, and I picked up my paint brushes again and painted whatever I wanted to for the first time in a long time.
I adore commission work, but there’s a different feel to creating whatever I want. I found myself taking a proverbial “deep breath”, and slowing down to figure out what it was I wanted to paint. Almost immediately, I found myself painting in a theme- I was painting table scenes somewhere with turquoise water and mountains. I realized I was painting Petit St. Vincent.
I hit the jackpot when I booked a modeling job along with my husband, Jacob, which shot on the incomparable gorgeous Petit St. Vincent. The two of us got to visit for a week as we were the featured couple in the island’s new commercial.
Going from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles to the supremely serene PSV was just what my soul needed. We spent our days enjoying pristine, preserved nature. The island is so… alive. Saturated ocean, sea life, and greenery. The most gorgeous, delicious produce. I left that week feeling brand new, clarity of mind and spirit.
This series is about taking life by the reigns, and about not taking it all for granted.
It is about taking your time to enjoy blessings as they surround you. Whether I get the chance to be somewhere beautiful or not, these paintings remind me to take a step back and find the beauty that already exists around me. The world is ever-changing, and now more than ever is the time to be present and find the simple joys of every day.
I loved painting these works, plain and simple. Each one of the paintings in this series is created with lots of heart. They have brought me an abundance of peace and joy, and my hope is that they they bring the same to you.
